Dance of Darkness and Light

I am writing these words sitting in a lovely artists cottage overlooking the 3 river estuary in South Wales and I was moved by my morning walks with the dogs by the liminal and ethereal energy of the estuary place.

As the rivers meet the sea I feel, not just in metaphor, but the actual shift in energies as the banks give way to coast and the coast gives way to the Ocean. The movement from life into death. From the strictures and limitations that form the channel into Oneness once more.

The very landscape has a beautiful but somewhat treacherous quality. I wouldn’t just walk or allow the dogs to aimlessly lollop out onto the sands at low tide; nor would I fancy anyone’s chances of swimming out there. The eddies and currents of the river-death are to witnessed from the solid shore.

The quicksands speak to me of the merging of the water and the earth. The river edges becoming vague, the banks dissolving.

The light here is incredibly refined. The air carries the silver dust of the ethereal.

I don’t have much to say as I am feeling the wintering taking hold of me and drawing me inwards but I wanted to just acknowledge the dance between the river and the ocean, the dance between the darkness and the light at solstice and the dance between life and death which is all around us.

With Love x
