Why Peace Building instead of Conflict Resolution?

Why use the term Peace Building instead of Conflict Resolution? It's more than just semantics, it is about cultivating peace even in the presence of conflict. Accept that conflict may not ever be resolved completely but peace can still co-exist in that space. True peace allows for dissent, discord, disagreement, differences and struggle and therefore Peace Building is about finding, nurturing and practicing safety, resilience, fortitude and flexibility in any circumstances in the faith that when we have safety, resilience, fortitude and flexibility embodied in our being this forms a culture of meeting dissent and discord well. These are the optimum conditions for Peace to thrive. It is a hope filled activism that we can build peace together while waiting for those that refuse to join us to see our ways, if they do change and seek peace we are ready and waiting. If they never seek peace, we have done all we can.
